unofficial animation playground and web test-site for animation vocational students at hamilton adult campus in adelaide

this website is the work of students in the animation studio at hamilton adult campus in adelaide.

this is a facility that offers a certificate 4 in screen and media, plus an advanced animation course.

the cert 4 course is a one-year vocational accredited certificate which focusses strongly on traditional animation values. it has a twice-yearly intake, and also offers some after-hours accredited tuition to those in the work force. admission to these courses is by interview.

the advanced animation course caters for graduates and those with animation training, to give them a bridge into the industry. these students work on industry mentored projects and exercises with the aim of developing a stronger portfolio, as well as polishing their skills to become more industry-ready, or to develop specialist skills, and to make industry contacts.

most types of animation are available in this course, from traditional forms such as cel animation and cut and paste, through to flash animation and 3D digital animation and effects. we see traditional animation values as driving digital animation.

graduates work in a variety of animation production companies, in games production and in visualisation and simulation companies, as well as in other animation-related activities such as web design and educational media.

breaking into these industry sectors usually requires a three (plus) year training cycle of which the major component is art or film training, so that trainees who have previous university or TAFE training in these areas (or equivalent life-time experiences) are those who gain employment most easily. others are likely to go on to such training.
